Blueberry Bagels are homemade bagels that are loaded with both fresh and dried blueberries and have the dense and chewy texture that bagels are known for. If you want to skip the blueberries try my plain bagel or salt bagel recipe.

There is something so special about homemade bread. Making the blueberry bagels are no exception. We worked on this recipe for weeks and wouldnt stop testing until our blueberry recipe had one important quality it had to taste like blueberries.
I was shocked at how many blueberry bagel recipes out there just tasted like a plain bagel with blueberries in it. That will not due! Rest assured this TASTES like a blueberry bagel in the best possible way. It is perfected and delicious! 

Blueberry Bagels Recipe
This bagel recipe is just like my plain bagels but with added blueberries. Blueberries are a superfood packed with lots of antioxidants and nutrients. Plus it doesnt hurt that they add some sweetness to the bagel especially with an addition of dried blueberries to the mix. In this recipe there are the bagel ingredients and the egg wash.

Warm waterInstant yeastIf you are using active dry yeast instead you will need 1 12 tablespoons of the yeast compared to 1 tablespoon instant Bread flourYou can also use the same amount of allpurpose flour but with bread flour you will get a higher rise because it contains more protein than allpurpose Granulated sugarSaltVegetable oilFresh blueberriesIf you use frozen blueberries be aware that your bagels may turn out blue!Dried blueberriesAdding the dried blueberries added some extra sweetness and even more blueberry flavor than using only fresh blueberries WaterHoneyoptional in the boiling processCornmeal

To get started making the bagel dough get out your stand mixer and whisk the yeast and warm water in the bowl of the mixer. Let that sit for about five minutes. Then add in the flour sugar salt vegetable oil and blueberries. I used a combination of fresh and dried blueberries to get just the right amount of blueberry flavor in each bite! Use the dough hook attachment to mix on low for about 8 minutes.
If you dont have a dough hook attachment knead the dough by hand for about 25 minutes. Place the ball of dough in a greased bowl cover it with a clean towel and let it rise for about two hours or until doubled
