Seashells are lovely keepsakes and can add a coastal touch to your home’s decor. Have you ever thought of using these unique, natural beauties as a planter?
Can a shell be used as a planter?
Yes, seashells make gorgeous planters! Today I am going to show you how to take a small conch shell and use it to create a mini succulent shell garden.
What is a succulent?
Succulents are easy to grow plants that come in a variety of sizes, textures and rich colors. Succulents store water in their stems and leaves.
What do I need to create a mini succulent shell planter?
Shell: You can use a conch shell or perhaps a clam or scallop shell. If you are not close to the beach, you can order smaller conch shells here.
Soil: Succulents have shallow roots and grow well in well draining, sandy soil like this succulent potting mix.
Succulent plant: Succulents can be found at your local garden center, grocery store, and home improvement store. I purchased mine at Trader Joe’s. You can also order this beautiful variety of assorted succulents.
How do I make a mini succulent shell planter?
Put a small amount of succulent soil into the shell.
Carefully remove the succulent from its container and separate the roots.
Place the succulent plant into the shell and cover with soil.
